For Lamar Jackson, football has always been about way more than just touchdowns and big paychecks. It’s about lifting up the people around him and making life better for his community.

But every now and then, even the most focused athletes get a wake-up call they didn’t see coming. That’s exactly what happened when Jackson stumbled across a recent study that hit a little too close to home. It might not have been on his radar before, but now it’s inspired him to make a promise to himself and it’s one that fans are definitely going to want to hear about.

The study that caught Jackson's eye popped up on social media and really made him pause. It pointed out that Black family reunions have dropped by a huge 47% since 1997, mainly because so many elders have passed on and old family conflicts just never got resolved.

Jackson posted the image on his Instagram stories with a caption that said, "SMFH I remember it felt like I was having a family reunion everyday imma start throwing one and everybody invited except the ones who got hate and pride n they chest."

Throwing family reunions definitely won’t be an issue for Jackson, considering the guy’s got one of the biggest contracts in the league.

He locked in a five-year, $260 million deal with the Ravens that includes a massive $72.5 million signing bonus and $185 million guaranteed. With an average salary of $52 million a year, let’s just say he can host as many cookouts and get-togethers as he wants without blinking an eye!
