There's not much to be happy about with the Las Vegas Raiders if you're a fan or a coach/player. After a shutout loss, where the Kansas City Chiefs, your biggest rival, put up 31 points, there's nothing to be happy about. So the last thing fans want to hear from head coach Pete Carroll after the game is that they weren't ready, because ultimately, that's what it sounds like.
“This was a game that I didn’t see coming. We had prepared really well. I couldn’t imagine that the guys who weren’t able to play in this game would make that much of a factor. I just didn't feel that in our preparation, but they're a terrific team. They did everything like they do, and they played really well in all phases and kept us totally at bay," Carroll told reporters after the game.
"We couldn't make first downs and couldn't get off the field. We have a lot of work to do. We have a lot of catching up to do, and we have to get our guys back… We needed to play differently to have that chance today. So, this to me is not like the statement of whatever. We have to realize what we're up against. We have to get our guys back, and we have to play the game well. We have to get back on track.”

Last season, this team, albeit with a different regime, won just four games. Mark Davis didn't really give Antonio Pierce or Tom Telesco any time to prove themselves, and immediately moved on to Carroll and a guy who's never done the job in John Spytek. They won four games, but let's face it – a bad quarterback or two and nothing else on paper on offense will have you winning just four games.
This roster is much better on that side of the ball, yet they are getting shut out. They are a bad football team, and Carroll doesn't seem to want to admit that, which is fair. No coach will really admit it. However, it's time to stop saying you didn't see it coming – it's the hottest team offensively in the NFL, the Chiefs. They just beat the Detroit Lions in what really wasn't a close game.
It's safe to say that everyone saw this coming. Now, a shutout, probably not. It's time to stop saying that this game happened because you didn't have your guys. Stop making excuses, because the fans don't want to hear it.
