Las Vegas Raiders head coach Pete Carroll made it adamantly clear he's not going to do what everyone keeps asking

Against the Washington Commanders, the Las Vegas Raiders were beaten in the trenches, on both sides of the ball. However, the offensive line is the side that continues to stand out the most, primarily because the polarizing rookie, Ashton Jeanty, is unable to move an inch before being hit.

So, why not change some things up, because what they're doing is very obviously not working? Why not move Jackson Powers-Johnson to the center position, where he was amazing last season? Isn't that what everyone wants?

"Absolutely not, no," Carroll said with an annoyed look on his face. "We've invested a lot of time with these guys playing in their spots. I know you're interested in JPJ [Jackson Powers-Johnson]. This is an official week to practice and to get ready. Last week was not that. So, he's ready to compete for the playing time, and he and Alex [Cappa] will be going at it. So, it's a good situation in that regard."

Pete Carroll is getting tired of the Jackson Powers-Johnson questions

Last season, Powers-Johnson was one of the best centers in the NFL, which is impressive in its own right considering he was a rookie. He made his rookie mistakes, like everyone does, but he and the rest of the offensive line really started to put it together at the end of the year. So, why move him to offensive guard and put Jordan Meredith, who is objectively worse, at center?

That, however, is something that everyone has to start realizing, and it will not change. Carroll is set in his way with that, and his reasoning does make a bit of sense. However, when that's not working, you have to try anything to get it going.

The actual surprising part here is that the Raiders are still having an open competition at the right guard spot between Powers-Johnson and Alex Cappa, who was the worst offensive lineman in football last season with the most blown blocks. He is a big reason why the Cincinnati Bengals' offensive line as a whole was so bad. JPJ is obviously better, as it showed in Week 1 against the New England Patriots, their first win, and when the offensive line looked the best.

Carroll is making everyone think that there is some sort of beef or something between the staff and JPJ, the second-round pick from last season. This issue we are seeing play out in real time, is something that dates back to training camp.
