Las Vegas Raiders: The 1 Hidden X-Factor That Could Lead Or Stop Potential Justin Fields Trade
Matt Marton-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears are a team to watch out for in the 2024 NFL offseason, largely because of quarterback Justin Fields. There is not a shortage of trade rumors — including scenarios involving the Las Vegas Raiders — surrounding Fields, who has yet to blossom into the talent the Bears expected him to become when they selected him first overall at the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Las Vegas Raiders Can Get Major Justin Fields Insight From New Offensive Coordinator

Sure, Fields has shown flashes of brilliance , but he’s yet to have one consistently strong campaign in the pros. Still, some believe that the Las Vegas Raiders should at least try to check out their chances in trading for the former Ohio State Buckeyes star this offseason. If the Raiders are thinking about it, it’s not hard to imagine them consulting heavily with their new offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, who must be familiar with Fields. That brings us to a point raised by Brent Sobleskiof Bleacher Report about how Getsy could be the potential X-factor in a possible Raiders pursuit of Fields.

Interestingly, Las Vegas has as much insight as any team outside of Chicago when it comes to Fields. New Raiders offensive coordinator Luke Getsy spent the last two seasons in the same capacity for the Bears, which could be a positive or negative depending on the intel he provides his new team.

Before getting hired by the Las Vegas Raiders, Getsy served as offensive coordinator for the Bears from 2022 to 2023. He was fired by the Bears along with head coach Matt Eberflus, as the Fields-led attack of Chicago finished the 2023 campaign just 19th in the league with 21.2 points per game. An intriguing takeaway here is how much of a guarantee that Fields would run the Raiders’ offense better than Chicago’s if he’s to work under the same offensive coordinator in Getsy.
