We are just over one month away from the 2025 NFL Draft, and teams are starting to feel the pressure of who they're going to select.
The Los Angeles Rams had a great free agency period and will look to finish rounding out their roster in the draft. They have eight total picks, including two in the third round. Our A to Z Sports draft guru Ryan Roberts released a new three-round mock draft on Tuesday, and addressed some of the Rams' biggest needs.
Let's take a look at those selections and break them down.
"Cornerback is a huge need for the Rams. Kentucky standout Maxwell Hairston is also on the board, but Los Angeles opts for the press man impact that Thomas brings. He is long, strong, and extremely fluid." - A to Z Sports college football and NFL draft analyst Ryan Roberts
Thomas would be a perfect fit in Rams defensive coordinator Chris Shula's system. His impressive size and length make him an ideal press man CB, and he is a willing tackler. In 2024 he recorded 53 total tackles, four passes defensed, and one interceptions for Florida State. Thomas needs a little fine tuning on his fundamentals, but that will come with experience.
"Athletic upside and experience with good instincts, but he struggled in coverage, giving up a handful of touchdowns this season. He's a solid athlete and can fit into any scheme at the next level, but he's lost his shine a bit." - A to Z Sports College Football Managing Editor Travis May
Carter would fill another big need for the Rams. He may have struggled in coverage a bit in 2024 at Clemson, but he improved his tackling. Carter set a career high 82 total tackles in 2024, adding 3.5 sacks and seven passes defensed. He may be a rotational player and a special teams contributor early on, but could develop into a starter down the road.
"His athletic tools and competitive toughness make him a standout prospect to consider. Zone offenses will love him, particularly outside zone-heavy teams, with his movement skills and length. I won't call him scheme-transcendent until I see his play strength win against better competition, but he has the tools to develop into a starting-caliber tackle for an outside zone team." - A to Z Sports college football writer AJ Schulte
Grant's athletic upside makes him worth taking a flyer on with a mid-round pick. He is explosive off the line of scrimmage and has the quickness to hang with speedy pass rushers. The level of competition he faced in the CAA could be a concern, but Grant still has all the tools you want in an OT. With Rob Havenstein set to become a free agent next year, Grant would be nice insurance if L.A. can't retain him.
