LB Shaquille Leonard Agrees to a Deal With The Philadelphia Eagles
Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have reached an agreement on a one-year contract with former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Shaquille Leonard.

Leonard, a three-time first-team AP All-Pro, three-time Pro Bowler and the 2018 Defensive Rookie of the Year, was waived by Indianapolis last week. He had started nine of the Colts’ 10 games but has been limited to primarily playing on first and second downs.

Leonard took two visits upon clearing waivers: with the Dallas Cowboys and the Eagles. He decided to wait until after Week 13 to make a final decision. The Eagles’ next game is Sunday night at the Cowboys.

Philadelphia has been in need of linebacker help with Nakobe Dean on IR, and the current string of starters is not performing well enough.

In 70 games with Indianapolis, Leonard totaled 32 tackles for losses, 31 passes defensed, 12 interceptions, 17 forced fumbles, 15 sacks and seven fumble recoveries.
