Jacksonville Jaguars second overall pick Travis Hunter suffered a season-ending non-contact LCL tear in his right knee during an October 30 practice and underwent surgery shortly after. Before the injury, he was playing full-time wide receiver through the first seven games, recording 298 receiving yards and one touchdown while logging 67% of offensive snaps. Hunter also contributed as a part-time cornerback, totaling 15 tackles and three pass breakups across 36% of defensive snaps.

The Jaguars will soon transition to Phase One of voluntary offseason workouts on April 20, which will run for two weeks. Phase One is limited to team meetings, strength and conditioning, and rehab, with team drills, live contact, and on-field coaching prohibited. All eyes were on whether Hunter would participate and to what extent, with the sixth-month mark approaching.

Jacksonville Jaguars offer update on two-way playmaker

During an interview with Jeremy Bergman of NFL.com, James Gladstone was asked about Travis Hunter’s recovery from the season-ending LCL tear. The general manager said the two-way playmaker will be limited for the offseason program, adding that he expects Hunter to be a full-go for training camp.

“He’ll be, for all intents and purposes, a limited participant through the offseason program with eyes on [a] return to play at full tick in training camp,” Gladstone said.

Which position/s will he play in 2026?

The plan is for Travis Hunter to play full-time cornerback and part-time wide receiver in 2026, the opposite of his rookie season. Brian Thomas, Jakobi Meyers, and Parker Washington project as the team’s top three receivers, with Thomas aiming for a bounce-back season, Meyers having been acquired at the NFL Trade Deadline and re-signed this offseason, and Washington leading the team in receiving. Meanwhile, Hunter looks to lock down the outside cornerback spot opposite Montaric Brown, with Jourdan Lewis in the slot, following Greg Newsome’s departure.
