Lions Film Study: Aidan Hutchinson currently resides in Hell

There's a new trend happening with Detroit Lions fans right now where they're exclusively blaming guys who make the most amount of money, as if the money will do certain things, like make your offensive line better or prevent teams from making their entire defensive game plan about stopping you.

That's what happened to Aidan Hutchinson on Thanksgiving. Look, I get it guys. Myles Garrett and Micah Parsons do all this and that, and they make the big money. Why can't Hutchinson? It's because the Lions have no other options, and teams are well aware of that at this point. So they just easily put all their attention on one guy, and his teammates don't capitalize on it.

Garrett sees double teams and chips just like Hutchinson does, but Maleik Collins, Mason Graham, and Isaiah McGuire take advantage of that, and they get their pressures and sacks, and they get them fast. Parsons has Rashan Gary on the other side, who has almost as many pressures and sacks as Parsons does this year. Brad Holmes failed here. There's no other way around it. Hutchinson sees all the attention. Just look:

Clip 1: Calvin Johnson treatment

The ball is snapped, and immediately, Hutchinson faces two guys. Look how they both turn to him at the same time. They look like programmed robots. On top of that, the throw is off pretty fast here. I'm not sure what Hutchinson should do. Derrick Barnes has a shot in a one-on-one, but he gets pushed off fast and can't recover in time.

Clip 2: Chip, double team, fast pass

Everyone is going to tell you how long the Packers had time to throw in this game, and in some situations, it was a lot. But they had a lot of plays like this, too, where the ball came out super fast. Even though it came out fast, the Packers still chipped first and then sent Hutchinson headfirst into a double team.

Clip three. A mugging in an alley

Here, Hutchinson has a good beat on Jordan Love, and then the guard disengages from his guy and just pushes Hutchinson down. There was nothing anyone could do in this situation. He was on his way and just got beaten up instead.

Clip 4: Holding/Hands to the face

I really don't know what Ron Torbert and his crew were doing on the field on Thursday. They missed call after call on both teams, but they were all over illegal formations. That's like the only thing they called. This one is pretty textbook. He's got his hand on Hutchinson's neck and lower face area, and if that's not good enough, he's clearly holding him. This is also the play where Dontayvion Wicks very clearly doesn't have control of the ball and has a foot out of bounds, and still gets a touchdown anyway.

Clip 5: Holding again

Seriously, how do you miss a tackle latching onto a guy for a ride like this?

Clip 6: The final play

Man, I don't know what could have been done better here. Hutchinson and McNeill both got there, and they got the pressure and forced the throw off the back foot. It was just a good throw and catch that if you had to make Love do it again, he probably wouldn't be able to do it. So even when Hutchinson got pressure, and he did in this game, it just wasn't enough.
