It looks like the Detroit Lions are taking Dan Campbell's request pretty seriously.
During the NFL owners meetings, Campbell said that he wants the team's wide receiver room to get younger this offseason.
The team's group of pass catchers is already led by plenty of young talent, but that didn't deter them from meeting with one of the top prospects at the position in this year's draft.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Lions hosted a visit with Texas wide receiver Matthew Golden over the weekend

This feels like a weird visit for the Lions because the only way selecting Golden at pick 28 is if the team isn't planning on exercising the fifth-year option on Jameson Williams' rookie deal.
Golden just doesn't offer much they can't get from Williams. He is expected to be a deep threat in the NFL, but never came close to the production Williams posted in his final college season.
Over three years in college, his most yards in a season were 987 in 2024 and it took him 16 games to get there.
As long as Williams is on the roster, Golden won't have much utility for the Lions. That could leave them once again basing a fifth-year option decision on one season when it comes time to decide what to do with Golden.
They could also end up really regretting the pick if they extend Williams beyond his rookie deal.
It's fine if the Lions want to grant Campbell's wish and grab some wide receivers in this draft, but Golden isn't the right guy for them and the first round is probably too early for them to focus on the position.
