As the Detroit Lions are back at home, there's a renewed expectation on the team to bounce back from their bad loss to the Kansas City Chiefs suffered on the road in Week 6. Home cooking is not just a myth - the Lions have a home record of 18-5 between the postseason and regular season at home since 2023.
One of those five losses, coincidentally, came against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2024. That's their opponent in Week 7, and they've gotten even better since that stolen victory on the road. Baker Mayfield has been a revelation this year. Their rookie wideout Emeka Egbuka has been a ridiculous addition to Mayfield's arsenal. And, of course, they still have Mike Evans in tow.
So, can the Lions avoid breaking one of their biggest active streaks headed into Week 7, which is their streak of no back to back losses since 2022? Head coach Dan Campbell certaintly seems to think so.
#Lions Dan Campbell on why they haven't lost back-to-back games in recent years: "It's our players. We got a good group of guys that are competitive. They know how to overcome adversity. They don't like losing."

Not since the days of Jared Goff's struggles with the Lions has the team had to deal with back to back losses. Detroit has been beyond dominant, something that gets lost in the noise since they haven't gotten over that hump en route to a Super Bowl appearance, or a championship.
This is also the most difficult portion of their schedule this season, as they go up against Tampa Bay, get a BYE week, then face off with the Minnesota Vikings, Washington Commanders, and Philadelphia Eagles prior to getting a shot at a true rout against the New York Giants.
The Giants, for what it's worth, might also be a completely different team by the time Detroit hosts them in Week 12 with the trade deadline looming. They could be better. And, they've got one Cam Skattebo who is particularly hard to bring down.
There are plenty of tests, clearly, in the Super Bowl path for Detroit this season. Avoiding a back to back loss would cement the fact that it's not in the Lions' nature to become losers. Even with their major absences on defense, it's clear that Campbell is confident that his players are too prideful (fittingly) to give up another game.
