Detroit Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp has been branching out quite a bit lately. During the wintertime time she was part of an all-star investment group that was attempting to bring the WNBA back to Detroit. Jared Goff was also part of that group.

Ultimately, that one struck out at this time, but Hamp did get a winner in another sport. This time it's golf. The TGL is a league founded in 2022 by golf legends Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

The league features three-on-three golf with indoor simulated golf aspects. The league featured six teams in Atlanta, Boston, Jupiter, Los Angeles, New York San Francisco. Now you can add Detroit to the mix per the league. The Motor City Golf Club.

“Detroit is a fantastic sports town," said Mike McCarley, another founder of the league. "The city has a championship legacy and Detroit fans are passionate about their teams and they’ll let you know it."

Hamp is a part of an investment group called Middle West Partners. She and her husband, Steve Hamp, will be the co-owners of the team. They're joined by Devner Broncos owner Rob Walton and Rose Law Group owner Jordan Rose.

This is a big deal for the city as Detroit continues its comeback. While the WNBA expansion didn't work out this time, don't rule it out. The league is continuing to expand, and they might get in next time.
