The 2025 NFL Draft is tomorrow, and the Detroit Lions have made a couple of moves pre-draft. On Tuesday, they signed offensive lineman Michael Niese. On Wednesday, they released quarterback Jake Fromm.

Fromm had somewhat of a cool story with the Lions in 2024. He was signed during the preseason last year after Hendon Hooker got hurt and the team needed a quarterback to fill in for the final preseason game against the Steelers.
Fromm was expected to just be a camp body, and that was it, but then he went out against the Steelers and had a great showing and really endeared himself to the team and the coaching staff in the short time he was there. That landed him a spot on the Lions' practice squad.
He was there all season long, and then the team signed him to a futures deal right after the season. With the signing of Kyle Allen, this move was pretty much expected. It's not likely to have any impact on the draft or mean the Lions will draft one. But you never know.
