Lions sign veteran quarterback
Jake Fromm. Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions are making some final moves before the start of the 2024 NFL regular season.

The team recently saw backup quarterback Hendon Hooker suffer a concussion. Detroit has signed a veteran quarterback to fill in the position for Hooker while he is out with an injury.

The Lions have signed veteran quarterback Jake Fromm to add depth to the position after the injury to Hooker, per a team announcement.

The signing comes from the team not wanting to play either starter Jared Goff or Nate Sudfeld in the preseason.

Fromm was drafted by the Buffalo Bills back in 2020. He started two games for the New York Giants in 2021 and was released by the Washington Commanders a few months ago.

In his pro career, the quarterback has 210 passing yards, a touchdown and three interceptions while connecting on 27 of 60 attempts. While Fromm has not experienced a lot of playing time in his career, Detroit seems confident in his ability to play snaps under center if need be.
