Lions/Dolphins Injury Updates

Both teams have been hit hard but in last Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, the Detroit Lions had several players injured. Linebacker Jack Campbell was the scariest with a neck injury and reports have him still in the hospital and regaining feeling and use of his extremities. No official word of the actual injury has been released.

Miami: Follow up on Sunday’s departures

Malik Washington briefly left the Patriots game after a hard hit and returned to catch a 1-yard touchdown before halftime, according to the Associated Press recap carried by ESPN. Edge defender Malik Herring also left with an injury described in that report as a stinger. Those game-day accounts require follow-up against Miami’s current report before drawing conclusions about Detroit-week availability.

Washington’s return during the game should not be treated as proof of unrestricted participation throughout the new week. Likewise, a departure alone should not be converted into an out designation.

Detroit: Multiple position groups need monitoring

Jack Campbell was taken to a hospital for evaluation of a neck injury during the Minnesota game. In its Monday update, Detroit said he continued to rest and recover at a local hospital and that preliminary indications were positive.

The AP recap also reported that Brian Branch and DJ Wonnum were evaluated for concussions and did not return. Other injuries involved Cade Mays’ ankle, Jacob Saylors’ neck, Jimmy Rolder’s hamstring and D.J. Reed’s hip. Their Wednesday participation and Sunday designations remain unverified in this draft.

A more in-depth injury report will be released later in the week giving a clearer picture of who will be available for the game.
