Longtime Denver Broncos former radio broadcaster Larry Zimmer has died at 88 on Saturday, the Broncos announced in a statement.

Zimmer called Broncos games on KOA Radio for 26 years. He was the team’s radio color commentator from 1971-89 before becoming the play-by-play announcer in 1990, where he spent another seven years.

Zimmer called more than 500 Broncos games, including 20 playoff games and four Super Bowls. He was also the voice of the University of Colorado football team for 42 seasons before retiring in 2016.

A Louisiana native and former U.S. Army Lieutenant, Zimmer is survived by his wife, Brigitte, and a son, daughter and granddaughter.
