Los Angeles Rams Sign Sneaky Good No Name Defender

The Los Angeles Rams have earned a reputation for not valuing all football positions equally — one of which is inside linebacker. This was on full display when they traded ILB Ernest Jones rather than meet with him at the contract negotiation table.

The position was front of mind for most fans since they only had one player at the position with any real experience on the roster, Omar Speights — and even he had one year under his belt after joining the team as an undrafted rookie in 2024.

Los Angeles Rams Sign ILB, Nate Landman

But now they have two experienced inside linebackers and although he isn’t a household name, Nate Landman has a healthy amount of on-field experience.

The Rams have announced a one-year agreement with inside linebacker Landman, who recently became an unrestricted free agent after the Atlanta Falcons declined to tender him a restricted free agent offer.

Landman’s tenure with the Falcons spanned three seasons, during which he played in 36 games and started 23. He recorded 192 total tackles, three sacks, six forced fumbles, four passes defensed, and one interception. His most productive season was 2023, where he amassed 110 total tackles, two sacks, three forced fumbles, three passes defensed, and an interception while starting 14 of 16 games. In 2024, Landman appeared in 13 games with six starts, recording 81 total tackles, one pass defended, and three forced fumbles.

The Zimbabwe native, 26, originally joined the Falcons as an undrafted free agent from Colorado in 2022. He spent his rookie season on the practice squad after being among the team’s final roster cuts. Atlanta later re-signed him to a futures deal and he successfully earned a spot on the active roster, eventually becoming a starter. He then re-signed as an exclusive rights-free agent in 2024.
