LT Overton 2026 NFL Draft Profile
USA Today Sports

LT Overton will check a lot of boxes for NFL scouts this draft season. He has the experience, size, and physical tools that many front offices will fall in love with. This article will highlight LT Overton and his 2026 NFL Draft Profile.

2026 NFL Draft Profile Of Alabama EDGE LT Overton

Measurables

  • Height: 6’3”
  • Weight: 283 lbs
  • Arm Length: 33.5”
  • Wingspan: 82 1/8”
  • Hand Size: 10 3/8”

Player Background

As a five-star recruit out of Milton High School, LT Overton was the sixth-ranked defensive lineman in the country and a top-five player in the state of Georgia. He committed to Texas A&M during the 2022 recruiting class, despite receiving offers from Alabama, Georgia, and Notre Dame.

Despite recording a sack in his first collegiate game, Overton failed to make much of an impact in 23 games with the Aggies. After transferring to the University of Alabama, he led the Crimson Tide with nine quarterback hurries in 2024 and tallied six sacks across 26 games. Overton helped solidify the defense as a top-ten unit in the country over the last two seasons.

Accolades

  • Nagurski Trophy Watch List (2025)
  • Jason Witten Collegiate Man of the Year (2025)
  • ESPN Preseason First Team All-America (2025)
  • Conditioning Freshman Aggie Award (2022)
  • Defensive Top Newcomer Award (2022)

Best Tools

LT Overton can disrupt plays from several different alignments on defense. He is elite at anchoring and taking on the A-gap from a 2i technique, while his length helps him to protect the edge from a 7-technique. Defensive minds like Vic Fangio and Chris Shula, who like to deploy hybrid fronts, would love a player with this kind of versatility and run defense value.

There aren’t many pass rushers in this draft class who are stronger or better at shedding blocks than Overton. He can drive with his lower half to push linemen back, use his physicality to gain leverage, and become unmovable at the line of scrimmage. His hands play with the same kind of power and help prevent offensive linemen from knocking him off tempo.

Tools to Improve

Teams that heavily value explosive pass rushers may take LT Overton off their board completely. He won’t threaten the edge with speed or an incredible first step. If Overton can shed some extra mass, he could become more explosive as a pass rusher. This would help him avoid being a one-dimensional pass rusher who is too reliant on his power.

If the ideal role for Overton in the NFL is to be a hybrid defender, he will need to clean up his tackling and pursuit angles. There are too many instances on film where he overpursues, dives, or attempts an arm tackle. Given his size, Overton doesn’t have great change-of-direction skills that can put him in a poor position to make tackles.

NFL Projection

With just seven sacks in nearly 50 collegiate games, a lack of production may scare some teams away from LT Overton. But he should be recognized as a defender with a really high floor against the run who has experience all over the defensive line. If he can develop a deeper arsenal, there is potential for Overton to become a three-down player, but if he continues to be over-reliant on power, the NFL will be a rude awakening for him.
