Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders delivered a productive performance in his third NFL start on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, finishing with 364 passing yards, three touchdown passes and a rushing score. Despite Cleveland’s 31–29 loss, Sanders made league history.
According to the NFL, he joined Aaron Rodgers as the only quarterbacks since 2000 with four completions of 50-plus yards within their first three career starts.
Sanders’ biggest play came in the second quarter when he connected with Jerry Jeudy on a 60-yard completion that underscored his effectiveness vertically. He later added a 7-yard rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter as Cleveland attempted to rally.
While the Browns, and especially coach Kevin Stefanski, continue to rue another missed opportunity to secure a win, Sanders made more headlines off the field.
According to Google, Sanders is currently the most searched athlete on Google in the United States, ranking ahead of notable names including NBA rookie Cooper Flagg and Green Bay Packers defensive end Micah Parsons.
His visibility stems from the attention he carried from Colorado, the discussions surrounding his draft slide and his competition for the Browns’ starting job, which he eventually won.
The rookie arrived in Cleveland with significant expectations built on his time with the Colorado Buffaloes, where he threw for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his final season and earned Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2024.
Despite projections that once had him viewed as an early-round prospect, Sanders fell to the No. 144 overall pick, where the Browns selected him in the fifth round. His climb to the starting job followed a competitive offseason and preseason in which he worked through the Browns' stacked quarterback unit to earn the role.
Sanders’ performances through three starts have reinforced Cleveland’s confidence in his long-term potential, and his rising profile continues to reflect his impact both on and off the field. The Browns now shift focus to Week 15, where Sanders will likely start again over Dillon Gabriel.
Cleveland will face the Chicago Bears on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS
