With Week 1 of the NFL season officially here, injury reports for teams across the league are starting to roll in.

Among the notable players whose status was in question for this weekend is New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers. The No. 6 overall pick out of LSU in the 2024 NFL Draft quickly found his footing in the Big Apple, recording 109 catches for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns en route to being selected to the Pro Bowl.

However, with back tightness keeping him out of the team's practice on Friday, concerns arose about his availability for the team's matchup with the NFC East rival Washington Commanders. While Giants fans and fantasy football owners alike may have been on high alert following the missed practice, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero provided a crucial update Friday afternoon.

"Giants WR Malik Nabers, who missed practice Friday because of back tightness, has no game status and is expected to play Sunday vs. Washington," wrote Pelissero.

Despite posting big numbers as a rookie, Nabers could be due for an even bigger year as the Giants dramatically improved their quarterback situation.

The team parted ways with longtime starter Daniel Jones, bringing in Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson and former No. 1 overall pick Jameis Winston and selecting Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Jaxson Dart with the No. 25 overall pick in this year's draft.

With Wilson getting the starting nod, the expectation is that he and Nabers will connect frequently this season.

The Giants-Commanders game is set to kick off at 1 p.m. ET Sunday and will air on Fox.
