Manning brothers won't have host for 'MNF' MegaCast

The highly anticipated "Monday Night Football" "ManningCast" starring football brothers Peyton and Eli won't feature a supporting host, Front Office Sports reported this week.

The MegaCast, being jointly produced by ESPN and Peyton's Omaha Productions, was initially going to have a third member join the brothers in their "Monday Night Football" coverage. The plan has since changed, obviously, putting the spotlight squarely on the Super Bowl-winning quarterback duo.

"The Mannings are the stars of this show," a source told FOS. "It’s hard to just become a part of that family history."

Neither brother is a stranger to the off-the-field spotlight, having starred in several commercials and individually hosting "Saturday Night Live."

"It’s supposed to be free-wheeling and unstructured," the source continued. "It will be like you’re sitting at the bar watching the game with the Mannings."

An official list of candidates to host the ESPN2 MegaCast was never released, although sources have said ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter was one of the front-runners for the gig.

The first-ever "ManningCast" is set for Sept. 13 when the Las Vegas Raiders host the Baltimore Ravens. It will also be airing opposite the usual "MNF" programming.
