Marco Wilson Restructures Contract With Patriots
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The New England Patriots agreed to a restructured contract with cornerback Marco Wilson. According to Patriots salary cap expert Miguel Benzan, the move frees up an additional $750,000 for New England.

Marco Wilson was waived by the Arizona Cardinals on Dec. 26, 2023. A day later he was the newest member of the New England Patriots. New England’s waiver claim on Wilson was successful, giving the team added depth at cornerback.

The Cardinals selected Wilson in the fourth round (No. 136 overall) of the 2021 NFL Draft. At 6-foot-0 and 191 pounds, Wilson has good size for the position. His 4.34 speed in the 40-yard dash made him one of the fastest prospects coming out of college that year.

Wilson played college football for the Florida Gators. He started as a true freshman but had his career briefly halted by an ACL injury that forced him to miss most of his sophomore season.

Arizona started Wilson as a rookie. He appeared in 43 games over three seasons with the Cardinals, starting 37 of them. Wilson recorded three interceptions and three forced fumbles in his NFL career to date. This includes a pick-six against the Saints in 2022, which earned him NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Wilson appeared in New England’s final game of the 2023 season, a 17-3 loss to the New York Jets. He played ten defensive snaps and recorded a tackle.

In addition to Marco Wilson, the New England Patriots cornerbacks under contract for 2024 include Christian Gonzalez, Jonathan Jones, Shaun Wade, Marcus Jones, Alex Austin, and Isaiah Bolden.
