FOX Sports analyst and former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has officially broken his silence on the hospitalization and subsequent arrest that led to him missing the past two weeks' broadcasts for his network.

The ex-Jets QB reportedly sustained critical injuries when he was stabbed in Indianapolis last weekend, only for it to later come out that he allegedly played a role in attacking a 69-year-old man while under the influence late that Saturday night.

Fortunately, Sanchez was able to heal from his wounds enough to be released from Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital yesterday morning, where he was then taken to the justice center to be booked and processed on felony charges.

Sanchez 'focused on [his] recovery'

Speaking Indy's FOX59 News on the way out of his booking, Sanchez opened up a bit about the situation but made sure to choose his words carefully as the process continues to play out.

“Right now, I’m just focused on my recovery, and I just want to thank the first responders, Eskenazi Hospital, Marion County Sheriff, and the Indianapolis Police Department, metro PD,” Sanchez said. “But I’m focused on my recovery, and I just want to see my wife, I want to see my son, my two baby girls. There’ll be a day to answer all these questions, and unfortunately, today is not that day.”

“I guess the real thing here is I just want to thank Dr. [Lindsey] Mossler, the surgeon. She saved my life. So I’m grateful for that. Sorry, I can’t answer all of your questions. ... I’m recovering slowly. Long process.”

A court case awaits

According to Front Office Sports, a pretrial conference for Sanchez's court case is scheduled for Nov. 5 and he is allowed to leave the state of Indiana.

The former USC star faces up to six years in prison if convicted on his felony charge after originally only being hit with misdemeanors for battery resulting in injury, public intoxication and unlawful entry of a vehicle.

Sanchez is alleged to have started the attack with the victim telling authorities he "feared for his life."

Outside of a few brief public and on-air statements from FOX, the company has yet to make much of a comment on Sanchez's status as an employee moving forward.
