Mark Sanchez is now facing a lawsuit from delivery driver Perry Tole in addition to the criminal case against him.

Tole has filed a lawsuit against both Sanchez and Fox over the incident that led to Sanchez being stabbed in Indianapolis, In. early Saturday, according to TMZ Sports. The lawsuit alleges that Tole has significant injuries to his head, jaw and neck, and some of the physical damage is permanent. Tole also claims to have suffered emotional distress.

The lawsuit alleges that Fox was negligent in hiring and retaining Sanchez due to his “propensity for drinking and/or harmful conduct.” Tole is seeking both punitive and compensatory damages in the suit.

Sanchez was stabbed early Saturday morning after allegedly confronting and threatening Tole about where he had parked, leading to a physical confrontation in which Sanchez was stabbed in self-defense. The former quarterback is now facing a felony charge stemming from the incident.

Video later showed Sanchez stumbling down the street after being stabbed.

The 38-year-old has since been released from the hospital, but could still face further charges. He was in Indianapolis to call Sunday’s Week 5 game between the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders, and was replaced on the broadcast by fellow former quarterback Brady Quinn.
