Matthew Golden spills the beans on his mindset in Green Bay, and it's something that will fire up Packers fans immediately

When the Green Bay Packers decided to take wide receiver Matthew Golden in the first round of the draft, the intentions were obvious. The front office wants to raise the team's ceiling, and investing in offensive weaponry is a great way of doing it. The ultimate goal is clear, and Golden is ready to contribute for that—and he shows how integrated to the collective objectives he is.

"Definitely want to go get that Lambeau trophy, man," Golden told KPRC 2. "That's the question mark we got in our team room is just filling in that blank. That's the last thing we need in that team room and, for us, that's all we talk about at practice is getting that trophy. So, we're doing everything we can each and every day to get to that point and just letting the rest be built up by itself."

It has been a special journey for Golden. The first wide receiver drafted by the Packers in the first round since 2002, he was selected exactly when the draft happened in the city of Green Bay. So far, the rookie is impressed by the franchise.

"Great organization to be around, great coaches, it's a tight team," Golden added. "It's a real brotherhood there. I'm excited to see what we do this year."

Connection with the quarterback

For Matthew Golden to have the immediate impact he wants to, building a strong on-field connection with Jordan Love is key. He started that process in the offseason program, but it will get more and more impactful during training camp starting on July 23.

"It's going to be what it's supposed to be. Over time, you got to build, you got to gain his trust," Golden said. "So, for me, it's just going out there, you just put my best foot forward each and every day and just allowing him to know that I'm going to be right where I need to be. So, I just feel like for me it's going happen over time."

A polished prospect, Golden has impressed the Packers with his ability to run routes and because of his strong hands. For a team that had to handle so many wide receiver mistakes in 2024, getting a rookie that knows what to do and executes it at a high level would be a huge, significant offensive upgrade.
