Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford can look back at his 2025 campaign with his head held high. This is despite the Rams suffering a season-ending loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday in the NFC championship game.
Stafford did all he could for the Rams, registering 22-of-35 completed passes for 374 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions. The Super Bowl-winning QB also added 16 yards on the ground on two carries.
The Rams still fell short, though. The Seahawks held on to a 31-27 win to punch their ticket to the Super Bowl, where they will face Drake Maye and the New England Patriots on Feb. 8.
Stafford had an incredible year with the Rams. He firmly established himself as one of the top MVP contenders after leading L.A. to a 12-5 record in the regular season. The Rams finished second in the NFC West behind the 14-3 Seahawks.
In 17 games played in the regular season, the 37-year-old amassed 388-of-597 completed passes (65.0%). He led the entire NFL in passing yards (4,707) and touchdowns (46). Thanks to his strong play, Stafford was named to the All-Pro first team for the first time in his career, and to the Pro Bowl squad for a third time.
On Tuesday, Stafford received another honor. The 101 Awards, America’s longest-running awards program that is dedicated exclusively to the NFL, announced that Stafford is the NFC Offensive Player of the Year.
The 101 Awards is one of the most esteemed award-giving bodies in the NFL. It was founded by Kansas City Chiefs founder and owner Lamar Hunt in 1969. The award winners are voted on by 101 NFL broadcasters and sportswriters.
This is the first time Stafford has won this award. Past winners of the NFC Offensive Player of the Year include Saquon Barkley of the Philadelphia Eagles (2024), Christian McCaffrey of the San Francisco 49ers (2023) and Eagles QB Jalen Hurts (2022), to name a few.
The 101 Awards named New England Patriots QB Drake Maye as the AFC Offensive Player of the Year. His coach, Mike Vrabel, was awarded the AFC Coach of the Year, while the Seahawks’ Mike Macdonald won the NFC Coach of the Year.
In his first season with the Green Bay Packers, Micah Parsons was awarded NFC Defensive Player of the Year. The AFC Defensive Player of the Year title was given to Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns.
