The two have become familiar rivals, Patrick Mahomes as the star quarterback of the Chiefs and Maxx Crosby as the ace pass rusher of the Las Vegas Raiders, traditionally the biggest nemesis Kansas City has in the NFL. They're AFC West foes, and their two games together are always entertaining--on the scoreboard, often, but also with the trash-talk that comes between the two.

Last week, the Chiefs nosed out the Raiders in a tight 19-17 game played on Black Friday, with Las Vegas losing after a late-game fumble cost the Raiders a chance to kick a game-winning field goal.

Crosby admitted that was a frsutrating result. And he concedes that when microphones catch he and Mahomes locked in their lip-flapping moments, things seen very tense.

But, he told Jim Gray on the "Let's Go!" podcast, underlying the trash talk is a deep respect between the two.

"I tell everybody I love Patrick, you know what I mean?" Crosby said  "That's why we're so close to each other every time we see each other. You know, that's my guy. I respect the hell out of him. I look at him as the best at his position. I look at myself with the best of what I do. So it’s like, at the end of the day, we see each other twice a year. We know exactly how we like to play. We know what we’re about, we know our energy. It’s a match made in heaven."

Gray asked for some detail on what gets said between Mahomes and Crosby.

Crosby revealed: "It's either like, Pat looks at me, and he's like, 'That was a good rush. That was good (expletive).' Or, like, I make him step up, throw the ball real quick and he's like, 'That would have been a touchdown if you weren't there.' I'm like, 'Appreciate it.' And then there's other times he's like, 'Get up off me man, get up off me.' I'm like, 'Shut up.'

"That's our conversation sometimes. So you know, it gets a little rated R from time to time. But at the end of the day, it’s all respect. He’s running for his life trying to make his plays, and my job is to literally kill him."
