When it comes to unexpected legendary names in Kansas City Chiefs history, Mecole Hardman is definitely up there. The former second-round pick never quite lived up to the expectations of what a second-round pick is supposed to do but considering he caught the game-winning touchdown in overtime of Super Bowl LVIII, fans will never forget Hardman and his impact on the Chiefs dynasty.

Unfortunately for Hardman, he has not been able to find success in any capacity outside of Kansas City. The latest example of this is his release from the Green Bay Packers' practice squad, a move that was made on Tuesday.

Hardman signed with the Packers in the offseason but never made the active roster or played in a regular season game for them. Now his time with the team is over and he's continued to not stick with teams outside of Kansas City.

Hardman's release will probably drum up conversation about how the Chiefs make sense as his next landing spot but he's not going to be enough to fix the issues this team currently has at wide receiver. Plus, the Chiefs would probably have to kick him to the curb once Rashee Rice can return to the lineup anyway so there doesn't seem to be much of a point there.

It's not to say that Hardman hasn't had a hell of a career. The guy has won three Super Bowls and caught the game-winning pass in a Super Bowl. Even though his stats haven't been mind-blowing by any stretch, most players would gladly have three Super Bowl rings on their mantle and a game-winning catch in the big game to make them a household name.

We'll have to see if Hardman ends up anywhere else now that he's once again on the free agent market.
