Meet the Newest New England Patriot: Oshane Ximines

The New England Patriots made several additions to their roster over the past week through the NFL Draft. Those additions focused on offense. On Tuesday the Patriots added a defensive player to the roster. This time, they went the veteran route by bringing in former Giants edge defender Oshane Ximines.

Oshane Ximines

The New York Giants selected Oshane Ximines in the third round (No. 95 overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft. He played college football for the Old Dominion Monarchs. He was teammates there with Patriots defensive end Keion White (White transferred to Georgia Tech after the 2020 season).

Ximines made an immediate impact as an NFL rookie. He appeared in all 16 games for New York, starting twice. He finished the season with 25 tackles and 4.5 sacks. He was also a core special teams player for the Giants.

His promising rookie campaign was not built on in his second season. Ximines suffered a shoulder injury. His season ended after only four games. The New York Giants spent significant draft capital in the following years. Ximines saw his playing time and production decrease.

By 2022, New York was back playing Ximimes more than 50% of their defensive snaps. He had his most productive year since his rookie campaign of 2019. He amassed 24 tackles (15 solo), eight quarterback hits, and 2.0 sacks.
