Los Angeles Chargers offensive lineman Mekhi Becton was limited to a 75 percent snap share on Friday night against the Kansas City Chiefs, but things could have been much worse.
Mere hours before kickoff in Brazil, the Chargers added Becton to the injury report with an “illness.” They provided no additional detail, merely noting that the former 11th overall pick was questionable.
The fact that Becton made it back in time and was able to play is impressive, considering he was hospitalized after apparently suffering from food poisoning earlier in the day.

Becton clearly labored throughout the game, taking oxygen after the opening series and then being briefly pulled off the field by Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh in the second quarter.
Fans, of course, had a little fun with the entire situation, ribbing Becton for getting sick over the one food that is safe to eat on the streets of Brazil, while others joked that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was his secret chef.
“Dude ate the literally only thing you can eat in Brazil and still got sick,” one fan posted on X.
“Once a Jet, always a Jet, I guess,” another X user quipped.
Becton has since been rehydrated and is on his way back to America, where he and the Chargers will get to work preparing for a Week 2 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
