The Miami Dolphins desperately need to upgrade the EDGE rusher position after parting ways with a Pro Bowler, multiple players are set to become free agents, and the hiring of Jeff Hafley has led to a shift from a 3-4 to a 4-3 scheme. The Dolphins are set to release Bradley Chubb at the start of the new league year, while Quinton Bell and Cameron Goode are free agents. This leaves Chop Robinson as the only player under contract who is not on a reserve future deal.
Also, given the Dolphins’ current cap situation, they will not be able to break the bank and land a superstar pass rusher like Trey Hendrickson. Instead, the team will have to settle for draft picks and players on less expensive contracts. Today, the front office addressed the position.
According to David Furones of the Sun Sentinel, the Dolphins have re-signed Cameron Goode to a contract. The former seventh-round pick completed his third accrued season, which is earned when a player is on a team’s active roster, injured reserve, or PUP list for at least six regular-season games, making him a restricted free agent despite being in the NFL for four years, due to spending his rookie season on the practice squad. The front office bypassed the non-guaranteed right-of-first-refusal tender worth $3.52 million and instead signed Goode to a contract, allowing him to compete for a roster spot and playing time in 2026.

Cameron Goode made the intial 53-man roster in his fourth season after spending all but three games on the PUP list in his third season recovering from a ruptured patellar tendon suffered in early January 2024 of his second season. He recorded 22 tackles, one pass deflection, two pressures, and two hurries across 17 games, including one start, totaling a career-high 108 defensive snaps. Half of Goode’s tackles came on special teams, highlighting his impact and value on punt and kickoff coverage.
