The Miami Dolphins (8-8) and New York Jets (4-12) will face off in NFL Week 18. Kickoff is set for in 4:25 p.m. ET from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford. The game will be broadcast live on FOX.
The Dolphins are favored by -1 with the game total set at 38.5 (-110o / -110u). The Dolphins are -120 favorites to win outright, while the Jets are +100 to pull off the upset.
The Dolphins are alive in the NFL playoff hunt entering Week 18. They need to beat the Jets and also hope the Broncos lose to the Chiefs. This game might be tricky, however, as Tua Tagovailoa is reportedly unlikely to play. Also, this could be the final game in Aaron Rodgers’ career, so the Jets will have plenty of motivation to play spoiler against a divisional foe.
Let’s get into my Jets vs Dolphins predictions and NFL picks.
My Dolphins vs. Jets best bet is on the Jets to cover the spread, with the best odds currently available at FanDuel. For all of your NFL bets, be sure to find the best lines by using our live NFL odds page.
With the status of Tua Tagovailoa in doubt combined with this potentially being Aaron Rodgers‘ last game, I like the Jets to play the spoiler role in this divisional game.
I’m taking the Jets at +1.5.
I’d rather take the points with the Jets; the moneyline is a pass for me.
I also have no play on the game total.
My Pick: Jets +1.5
Tua Tagovailoa’s availability for this game is in doubt; he is obviously crucial to the Dolphins offense. There has been a huge dip in production across the board when Tagovailoa is out, and it looks like that could be the case here for a must-win game in Week 18.
I thought Tagovailoa was going to return, but his hip injury must be a lot worse than the Dolphins were letting on. It’s been a weird season for injuries across the NFL, especially with Miami’s starting quarterback.
Without Tagovailoa, the Dolphins have shown they’re a middling, below-average team. Also, while the temperatures won’t be below freezing, the high of 37 degrees is still worth noting with this team.
For the Jets, it looks like it’s going to be Aaron Rodgers. He talked this week about how this could be his last game in the NFL and sounded at peace with that potentially being the case.
Despite all the drama surrounding the franchise this season, playing for one of the all-time greats in potentially his last game will be plenty of motivation for New York. The chance to end a division rival’s season with a loss will be appealing, too.
The Jets have plenty of veterans on their roster, so, again, I’m not worried about a lack of motivation. These guys are professionals who will be ready to play.
Give me the Jets to end the season by upsetting their fans and getting another win here.
My Pick: Jets +1.5
