Micah Parsons has only been a Green Bay Packer for seven days. In that time, he’s already noticed something unique about his teammates and the overall vibe inside the locker room.
Parsons spent four years with the Dallas Cowboys. He’s never seen a locker room quite like what the Packers have.
“I’ve never been in a locker room with guys like this. I came in Tuesday for treatment, and I saw almost every guy in the locker room,” Parsons said, via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. “I said this is the first time I ever seen this and that just shows how much these guys wanna be here.
“They say it’s ’cause there ain’t nothing else to do, but there’s other things you could do… I think that’s important and when you’re around guys like that, it makes it exciting to come to work.”
Parsons, 26, is excited to begin his new journey in Green Bay. He arrived last Thursday from Dallas, which acquired two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark in exchange for Parsons.
In an alternative universe, Parsons could have been a Philadelphia Eagle. ESPN‘s Adam Schefter said on “Get Up” that the Eagles were aggressive in their pursuit of Parsons. However, Dallas didn’t want to make a trade with a rival it sees twice per season.
“It’s certainly interesting because when the Dallas Cowboys were looking to trade Micah Parsons,” Schefter said. “One of the teams that showed the most interest in trading for Micah Parsons was the Philadelphia Eagles. They were fairly aggressive in trying to trade for Parsons, but the Dallas Cowboys, obviously, were not interested in trading Micah Parsons back to Pennsylvania, back in the division. They wanted him out of the division.”
Instead, Parsons is a Packer. The NFL world awaits to see if he will make his debut this Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Parsons, who has been dealing with a back injury, was listed as a limited participant on Thursday’s injury report. His status for Sunday is still up in the air: “It’s completely up to the coaches.”
Parsons added, “I’m still ramping up. It’s a process of getting ready for football being out for six months. Obviously going through the tightness, the soreness.”
