The Packers made a statement in Week 1, and have the chance to solidify their status as a team to beat in the NFC, in Week 2 against Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders.
Green Bay’s ceiling for the 2025 campaign was raised the moment general manager Brian Gutekunst landed All-Pro edge rusher Micah Parsons in a blockbuster trade with the Dallas Cowboys. Parsons made an instant impact, posting a sack and several hurries in big spots of the Packers 27-13 throttling of the NFC North rival Detroit Lions.
At least one NFL analyst believes that with Parsons, the Packers now boast a defense capable of carrying Green Bay to a Super Bowl.
“Parsons didn’t pick up his only sack until the fourth quarter,” Jeffri Chadhia points out for NFL Media. “But, that introduction set the tone for what should be coming. Green Bay’s defense improved significantly when coordinator Jeff Hafley arrived last year. The presence of Parsons makes it championship-caliber.”
There’s a lot of football left to be played, and the Packers have some big games remaining on their schedule, but can make Chadhia look prophetic by stifling Daniels and the Commanders the same way they dismantled Goff and the Lions in the opener.
