For the Dallas Cowboys, the 2024 NFL offseason belonged to Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb. However, the 2025 offseason will be owned primarily by Micah Parsons.
While Prescott signed a record four-year, $240 million extension just before Week 1, and Lamb received a four-year, $136 million deal after a training-camp holdout, Parsons is also due for a big payday. As Patrik Walker of the team's official website detailed, the star pass-rusher made it known he had no interest in locking in a new deal until Prescott and Lamb got paid.
When Parsons was asked about his quarterback's big payday, he responded candidly while praising Prescott after joking around about the high-dollar deal.
"He didn't cheat the game," said Parsons of Prescott. "He earned everything he got. So that just goes to his work, his dedication, his craft, everything he put into it. Good things happen when you don't cheat the game. And I can say he's been 100 percent balling since he's been here."
"So when it comes to that guy, he is not a guy that doesn't deserve it."
Parsons has cemented himself as one of the NFL's best defensive players, and there's little doubt that his lucrative contract extension is on the horizon. The 25-year-old is in the fourth year of his rookie deal and is slated to receive a significant pay bump under the team option next season, assuming there's no new extension before that.
Considering how dominant Parsons has been for the Cowboys, it would be a surprise if he goes far into next offseason without a shiny new deal, though. Through 51 career games, Parsons has racked up 217 combined tackles, a stellar 41.5 sacks and 52 tackles for loss. His 2024 campaign began with a sack during the Cowboys' 33-17 road win in Week 1 over the Cleveland Browns.
