Micah Parsons Injury Update: Details Emerge on Packers Star's Return Timeline

The Green Bay Packers failed to win a single game after EDGE Micah Parsons tore his ACL against the Denver Broncos in Week 15. Including their matchup against Denver, Green Bay dropped five straight, ending the season with a wild card round loss to the Chicago Bears.

Now on the road to recovery, coming back from a torn ACL is a different process for every player. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who also tore his ACL in Week 15, is hoping to be ready for the start of the 2026 season.

However, the same can't be said for Green Bay's pass rusher. During a Thursday appearance on ESPN's "Get Up," Adam Schefter revealed Parsons could be placed on the physically unable to perform list to begin the year.

“The feeling within the organization has been that Parsons would miss the early part of the season and be back early on,” Schefter said. “He’ll be a candidate, a candidate to be placed on the physically unable to perform list... The expectation has been Parsons will miss some time to start the season.”

Being placed on the PUP list at the beginning of the season means Parsons will have to miss at least the first four games, according to NFL.com. That means, best-case scenario, he returns after the minimum amount of time and plays the Packers' 13 remaining games.

However, the pass rusher was still dominant last year in a similar amount of time. In 14 games, he recorded 41 tackles, 27 quarterback hits, 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and 48 pressures. Parsons finished third in Defensive Player of the Year voting, earned a Pro Bowl nod and First-Team All-Pro honors.

While a Week 1 return becomes increasingly unlikely with talks that he may be placed on the PUP list, Parsons has high expectations for when he does return. Playing under a four-year, $186 million contract, the Packers are looking for elite results from the 26-year-old.
