Micah Parsons spoke about how much he love-- er, absolutely lothed, the Detroit Lions prior to his trade from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers. It was back in 2023, when Amon-Ra St. Brown had made a public plea for cornerback Jalen Ramsey to come to the Lions if he was going to be released by the Los Angeles Rams.
Parsons' unasked for opinion on the pitch?
I’m sorry no one going from la to Detroit https://t.co/j9ejL3rvu8

Tell us how you really feel!
Obviously, Ramsey never came to Detroit, and Parsons never did anything special with the Cowboys after that tweet. The Lions, conversely, have been in the postseason twice since then. Now, Parsons finds himself in the middle of a new rivalry between the Packers and Lions, and one that'll get its 2025 resurgence in Week 1 as Detroit travels to a rambunctious Lambeau Field.
Parsons has already started to fan the flames of this rivalry as the newest cheesehead, telling reporters on Thursday prior to the game, "I never liked Detroit."
"I already felt like Dallas and Detroit already had a rivalry. Already got that rivalry built up. I'm excited to play them. I never liked Detroit. I never liked them, even when I was with Dallas. It's just always a heavyweight fight, everytime they came in. They kind of got our guys when I was injured last year, the whole team was injured. I just think it's a funny way how things work, I'm excited to play them. I know they're excited. It's gonna go all 12 to 15 rounds."
He added that he thinks trick plays are for teams that don't know how to beat teams "straight up." A 15-2 record won mostly not on trick plays would beg to differ, but sure.
Let's ignore the bit where Parsons says he never liked Detroit. That's a given for any competitor who hates to have to deal with a team as good as the Lions have been since he's been in the league, and a given for anyone who has to face off with Penei Sewell.
But, to discredit the Lions' effort from last year against the Cowboys because of injuries should leave a sour taste in the Lions' mouths. The Lions completely demolished the Cowboys last season by a score of 47-9. With health, could Dallas have even competed with such a thorough dismantling? It's hard to imagine.
It's obvious that Parsons is fired up for this game after an offseason and camp full of uncertainty surrounding his future with the Cowboys. Now, he's in an uber-competitive division once again, and is clearly feeling the effects of that prior to kickoff.
