Week 4’s game between the Green Bay Packers and the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington has everyone circling it on the calendar. With Micah Parsons set to play against the team that welcomed him in the NFL for the first time since his shocking trade to Green Bay just before the 2025 NFL season, all eyes will be on him when he takes the field in his old stomping grounds this coming Sunday.
Parsons spent his first four seasons in the NFL donning Cowboys colors, and during that time, he racked up a total of 52.5 sacks. He had 12.0 sacks or more in each season with Dallas before the Cowboys traded him to the Packers in exchange for veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark and a pair of future first-round picks (2026 and 2026).
Now, the former Penn State Nittany Lions star will be looking to take down former teammate and Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
On Tuesday, Parsons opened up about his looming opportunity to go after Prescott in the backfield. He also shared a message he got before from Prescott.
Via the Associated Press (h/t ESPN):
“It’s going to be painful,” Parsons told the AP about getting a chance to sack Prescott. “That’s my guy. He was always like a good mentor for me. But you know how it is. He always told me if I ever faced him that it’ll be a great matchup, so I’m excited to see what Sunday brings itself.”
So far in the 2025 NFL season, Parsons has 1.5 sacks and three solo tackles. His familiarity with Prescott could help him have a big night in Dallas, as he looks to punish his former team. As for Prescott, he avoided getting sacked in Week 1’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but he’s been taken down in two games since.
