Michael Irvin apologized to Shannon Sharpe during an appearance on the former tight end’s podcast that was published on Thursday.
Irvin appeared on “Club Shay Shay” to talk about several subjects, including an exchange the two previously had regarding Travis Hunter and Hunter’s now-wife. Irvin had told Sharpe to keep criticism of Hunter related to Hunter’s wife to himself.
Sharpe had been critical of Leanna Hunter for not appearing to be overly supportive of Travis when he won the Heisman Trophy.
Irvin responded via X at the time and wrote, “CODE VIOLATION N—A!!!!!!! I love you to LIFE but STOP!!!!!” (profanity edited by LBS).
Sharpe felt his comments about the situation were warranted, feeling he was educating her.
“I have a problem with her understanding. She’s young, she doesn’t understand what comes along with it, but I’m trying to enlighten her as somebody that’s been in that space as somebody that understands it,” Sharpe said.
During the podcast appearance that was published on Thursday, Irvin apologized for stepping in and being critical of Sharpe, who was trying to impart wisdom to Hunter.
“Let me do this to be righteous. Let me apologize to you here live while we’re on. … We finally talked about it, and I said the same thing to you,” Irvin said.
Irvin said that he predicted at some point in the future, Sharpe would want to share another message with Hunter, but the two-way player would be dismissive and defensive because of the previous comments.
“I don’t want him to turn an ear off to you,” Irvin said.
Irvin was saying that Sharpe should have been more selective with what he said.
