Mike Greenberg on Chiefs: 'How could you possibly bet against this team to win three in a row?'

The future is bright for the Kansas City Chiefs. They just won their first Super Bowl in 50 years. Patrick Mahomes is off to arguably the greatest career start in NFL history. And they are set to return with 20 of 22 starters from last year's championship roster. It's a recipe for success rarely seen in the NFL. Could this be the start of the next great sports dynasty? According to ESPN's Mike Greenberg, the answer is a resounding 'yes.'

"It all starts with the quarterback," Greenberg explained on Get Up . "Patrick Mahomes is already number-one all-time in passer rating, QBR, touchdown-to-interception ratio, yards-per-attempt, and yards-per-game and he's 24 years old."

Greenberg pointed to previous dynasties like the Shaq-Kobe Lakers and the late-90s Yankees, demonstrating how difficult it is to maintain that level of success. It's even harder in the NFL, as the last three-peat was the Green Bay Packers more than 50 years ago.

But Greenberg believes that with Mahomes as the foundation, the Chiefs can reach a level of dominance we haven't seen in the modern era. And he says it's 'much, much more' than Mahomes.

"The Chiefs have drafted 9 Pro Bowlers since Andy Reid got there in 2013," Greenberg said. "Travis Kelce was a third-round pick. Tyreke Hill? Fifth-round... The Chiefs' offense returns 10 of 11 starters from last year when they scored 117 points in three playoff games."

Of course, there have been plenty of wannabe dynasties that were destroyed before they reached their potential. However, Greenberg thinks the Chiefs are a different breed of greatness.

"How could you possibly bet again this team to win three in a row?" Greenberg asked.
