Mike Macdonald and the Seattle Seahawks couldn't have asked for a better 2025 NFL season. After finishing with a 14-3 record, the Seahawks earned the No. 1 seed in the NFC, taking down the San Francisco 49ers and the Los Angeles Rams before defeating Mike Vrabel and the New England Patriots 29-13 in Super Bowl LX.
The Super Bowl between Seattle and New England was a defensive battle, with no touchdowns scored until the fourth quarter. Although the Seahawks forced the only turnover, a Drake Maye interception, it was Seattle’s rushing attack that made the difference, totaling 141 yards on the ground compared to the Patriots’ 79. Now, as the Seahawks turn their attention to the 2026 NFL season, they will be without a key offensive coach.
Rick Dennison has been around the NFL as a coach for over 30 years now, beginning his career as the Denver Broncos' offensive assistant in 1995. He spent 15 seasons in Denver, changing positions on numerous occasions, before joining the Houston Texans in 2010 as the offensive coordinator.
After spending the next 14 years around the league, including offensive coordinator stints with the Broncos and Buffalo Bills, Dennison joined the Seahawks ahead of the 2025 season, taking on the roles of running game coordinator and senior offensive advisor.
In his lone season with Seattle, Dennison oversaw one of the best rushing attacks in the league, with both running backs Kenneth Walker III (1,027) and Zach Charbonnet (730) rushing for over 725 yards apiece. Walker III even went on to win Super Bowl LX MVP after tallying 27 carries for 135 yards against the Patriots, adding another two catches for 26 yards through the air.
But on Monday, just over a week after Seattle’s Super Bowl win, Dennison decided it was time for a change and is expected to join the Las Vegas Raiders, leaving Macdonald and the Seahawks without a key piece on the offensive side of the ball.
"The #Raiders are expected to hire #Seahawks run game coordinator and senior offensive advisor Rick Dennison, sources tell @CBSSports," CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz wrote on X. "Dennison has 30 years of NFL coaching experience, including as an offensive coordinator with the Bills, Broncos and Texans."

While Macdonald and the Seahawks look to replace Dennison, they will also aim to improve their roster and return to the Super Bowl next season, with free agency officially opening on March 11.
