Mike McCarthy Roasted For Final Play Of Cowboys Playoff Loss
Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Mike McCarthy made an interesting call

Mike McCarthy fell 0-4 all-time to the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs Sunday. He made some questionable decisions in the 19-12 loss. One memorable play will stand out from this game. NFL fans are having trouble wrapping their heads around the Dallas Cowboys’ final play.

The play saw running back Ezekiel Elliott playing center. The rest of the roster, other than the quarterback, Dak Prescott, and a running back, were lined up off to the side of the field like wide receivers. After the snap, Elliott would get pancaked, and only two wide receivers would run downfield. Needless to say, the gadget play didn’t work.

Cowboys and NFL fans are confused

It was a weird play design. And the play didn’t fool the 49ers’ defense. The wide receivers running downfield ran routes with several defenders around to make a game-winning tackle. Twitter immediately mocked the decision by McCarthy and his staff to make that call. Here are the best takes on Twitter after McCarthy’s bizarre final play call.
