As we gear up for the start of the NFL season this Sunday, injury news is starting to emerge from teams across the country as they prepare for Week 1 matchups.

While the Miami Dolphins were hit with some unfortunate injury news when it comes to tight end Darren Waller, who suffered a setback this week and is unlikely to play on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, head coach Mike McDaniel was able to offer a positive update on a couple of key players Friday: wide receiver Tyreek Hill and running back De'Von Achane.

According to McDaniel, both Hill and Achane are progressing well and are "absolutely" on track to play this Sunday, per Marcel Louis-Jacques.

Tyreek Hill Injury Update

Per the Miami Dolphins injury report, Hill has been dealing with both an oblique injury and a calf injury throughout training camp, holding him out of the preseason action. There was always a hope that he could be healthy enough to play in Week 1 vs. the Colts, and after being listed as limited in practice on Wednesday, that hope remained.

Hill's availability will be important for Miami on Sunday, as he stands as one of their top pass-catchers on the roster, alongside Jaylen Waddle. In 2024, Hill had 959 yards and six touchdowns, coming off of a 2023 season where he amassed 13 touchdowns and 1,799 yards.

Last season was Hill's first sub-1,000-yard season since 2019, so he has a lot to prove this year and is hoping to start the season on a high note.

De'Von Achane Injury Update

According to the Dolphins' injury report, Achane has been dealing with a calf injury throughout fall camp, and there have been some serious concerns about his availability for the start of the season.

After seeing some time in the first preseason game of the year, Achane has been sidelined for the past three weeks, missing the Dolphins' final two preseason games and being held out of practice.

McDaniel told reporters earlier this week that if Achane did not suffer any setbacks with his calf injury, then he would be playing on Sunday vs. the Colts. If we are to look into McDaniels' statement on Friday, it appears things are still in a good place there.

Last season, Achane rushed for 907 yards and six touchdown, also adding 78 catches for  592 yards and another 6 TDs.
