Mike Vrabel addresses the Drake Maye injury rumors

New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel is not tipping his hand when it comes to suggestions that quarterback Drake Maye suffered some sort of injury during the AFC Championship game.

Speculation about Maye has been fueled partly by comments on X from David J. Chao, who posts under the username ProFootballDoc. Chao claimed that Maye suffered some sort of injury to his right throwing shoulder against the Broncos.

The rumors spread enough online that Vrabel was asked about the topic in an appearance on WEEI Tuesday, and the coach was not giving much away.

“There’s not a player on our team that’s 100% healthy,” Vrabel said.

The coach added that the Patriots would put out an injury report, but downplayed that Maye was dealing with anything significant.

The NFL has strict rules about reporting injuries, so there is only so much Vrabel can say. Maye went just 10/21 for 86 yards in the AFC Championship, but that had as much to do with the weather as it did anything else.

Maye was healthy enough to fool everyone, including his offensive line, on one of the game’s biggest plays. The chances of him missing the Super Bowl are miniscule.
