Mike Vrabel, Patriots players praise fans after curious Stefon Diggs comment

New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs raised some eyebrows when he curiously said he felt the crowd "could have been a little louder" during the club's 16-3 home playoff victory over the Los Angeles Chargers

It appears not everybody associated with the Patriots agrees with Diggs' assessment.

Mike Vrabel praises "amazing" atmosphere during Patriots' win over Chargers

"I thought (the atmosphere) was amazing," Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel said on Monday, per Karen Guregian of MassLive. "Our willingness to play to a style that our fans appreciate, we’ve talked about that for as long as I remember. That if we play to a certain style, they’ll embrace that, they’ll cheer for us. What we do here from the stadium perspective, from the introductions to the fireworks, that’s all part of it. We’re in the entertainment business. We have to provide things for people to get excited about. So I appreciate the way that our fans have been here, the way that they’ve travelled, you can’t say enough about them."

Vrabel seemed to somewhat echo Diggs, who acknowledged that New England has to give paying customers "a lot to cheer for...on the offensive side of the ball." That wasn't necessarily the case on wild-card Sunday, as the Patriots went three full quarters without a touchdown before quarterback Drake Maye connected with tight end Hunter Henry for a 28-yard score with 9:45 remaining in regulation.

"We all felt the energy," Henry said about the game's atmosphere. "Just thankful for Pats Nation and for coming out and for supporting. That was really a special night."

Is best to come for Patriots home playoff games this month?

Meanwhile, Patriots center Garrett Bradbury called the atmosphere at Gillette Stadium this past weekend "the best" he has experienced during his time with the club.

"The place was rocking," Bradbury explained. "Coming out, running out of the tunnel for the game was the most electric I’ve seen it here. The fans were in it, the stands were full. We kept saying on the sideline, in the fourth quarter, they’re playing those AC/DC songs, this is football. This is why you play...it was a special night. It was fun."

Patriots fans will be tasked with making things fun for their beloved team when New England hosts the Houston Texans for a divisional-round clash on Sunday. As of Tuesday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Patriots as three-point favorites for that game.

"The crowd was electric," Patriots kicker Andres Borregales added about the win over the Chargers. "It was so loud at some points in the game...it definitely showed in our performance. We definitely feed off the crowd. And hopefully, the crowd feeds off us."
