The Minnesota Vikings received a major scare on Sunday when quarterback Sam Darnold went down with a knee injury on a low hit from Houston Texans defensive end Danielle Hunter. After an MRI, the Vikings got great news that his knee being just bruised, which shouldn't keep him from missing any time.
That's great news for the Vikings, especially after what happened with J.J. McCarthy. He hurt his meniscus during the preseason game against the the Las Vegas Raiders but the injury didn't manifest itself until the following day when he started to feel pain and then had an MRI.
There was some fear that happened with Darnold. He did re-enter the game against the Houston Texans and only missed one play, but when adrenaline hits and courses through your body, it can prevent you from feeling pain and keep you going.
For now, the Vikings will be planning on having Darnold start for them on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.
