Minnesota Vikings slate of 2025 NFL Draft picks made official as the league announces compensatory selection

While we are fully entrenched in all of free agency, the National Football League decided to release the compensatory draft picks for the 2025 NFL Draft. They awarded a total of 35 compensatory selections with three of them being awarded to teams that had an assistant get hired for a head coach or general manager job by another team.

Last year, the NFL awarded the compensatory picks and announced the entire draft order on the same calendar day, except last year it was the first day of the legal tampering period.

Minnesota Vikings official draft order set

The Minnesota Vikings know where they are going to be selecting in the 2025 NFL Draft. They have just four selections:

  • First round: 24th overall
  • Third round: 97th overall (compensatory selection)
  • Fifth round: 139th overall
  • Fifth round: 160th overall

The lack of selections have come from a bevy of trades.

  • Second-round pick: to the Houston Texans in the trade up to 23rd overall
  • Third and fourth-round picks: trade up from 23rd overall to 17th overall in the move-up for edge rusher Dallas Turner
  • Sixth and seventh-round picks: trade with the Cleveland Browns when the Vikings sent them Za'Darius Smith

General manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has not been afraid to make trades with draft picks. The Vikings are set to not have a second-round pick for the third-straight year with trades to acquire T.J. Hockenson and Turner, but the latter was mainly due to the desire to move up for a quarterback.

The Vikings are likely to move around during the NFL Draft to acquire more picks in the NFL Draft, especially with the wealth of talent being between picks 20 and 70. There could be a lot of movement by the Vikings to get closer to 10 draft picks.
