The Chicago Bears have a lot of things to look forward to this season, and one of those things is a new identity on offense. The hiring of Ben Johnson as head coach showed the franchise is adamant about maximizing the talent of the players it already has on the team. That's what Johnson did as offensive coordinator of the Detroit Lions, and the hope is he can do the same thing for the Bears.
One player expected to benefit from the change is Caleb Williams, who has all the tools to be a dynamic quarterback in the league. With skill players such as D.J. Moore, Rome Odunze, Cole Kmet and D'Andre Swift, there's no reason Williams and the offense should have a down year.
In today's NFL, you can never have too many offensive weapons, and in Bleacher Report's latest mock draft , writer Moe Moton made a deal for the Bears to acquire Brian Robinson Jr. from the Washington Commanders, as there is a real possibility he could be dealt before the regular season.
Moton explained why Robinson may be a good addition to the Bears.
"As the Detroit Lions' offensive coordinator between 2022 and 2024, Bears head coach Ben Johnson built his offense around a robust ground attack," Moton wrote. "He inherited a roster with D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson as a backfield duo, but Chicago could make a move for a player who's familiar with running backs coach Eric Bieniemy.
"In 2023, Bieniemy was the Commanders' offensive coordinator. Though he didn't make a strong commitment to the run game, his offense allowed Robinson to display his pass-catching ability. The bruising 6'1", 225-pound tailback logged career highs across multiple receiving categories."
Robinson could indeed add to the Bears' rushing attack, as he finished last season with 799 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.
