CBS analyst Tony Romo has quickly gone from a media darling to one of the most hated broadcasters in the NFL in just the past few years.
Romo joined CBS in 2017 after retiring from the NFL. He had a very respectable career with the Dallas Cowboys, throwing for 34,183 yards and 248 touchdowns. Since he immediately made the transition from the field to the broadcast booth, he was able to predict plays before they'd even happen.
Unfortunately, Romo has lost his fastball and hasn't shown any sign of getting it back. To make matters worse, he's been accused of playing favorites when it comes to certain players, especially Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes.
In Week 15, CBS sent Romo to the Mile High City to cover a potential Super Bowl preview between the Green Bay Packers and Denver Broncos. Fans made it clear they didn't love his performance. Some were even calling for him to be demoted to the No. 2 broadcast crew.
"Romo needs to be demoted to CBS B Team," one fan said during Week 15. "Call JJ Watt up for prime time."
“It feels like the #2 broadcast team and #1 broadcast team for both @NFLonCBS and @NFLonFOX should be flipped. Joe Davis/Greg Olsen are better than Kevin Burkhardt/Tom Brady and same with Ian Eagle/JJ Watt over Jim Nantz/Tony Romo,” another fan argued.
Right before Week 15 wrapped up with "Monday Night Football," media insider Andrew Marchand of The Athletic brought up how Ian Eagle and J.J. Watt sound like the true No. 1 broadcast crew for CBS.
As of this time, it's unclear if CBS would even consider bumping Romo out of the top spot. That being said, pressure is mounting at a rapid face.

It's worth noting that CBS rewarded Romo with a 10-year, $180 million contract in 2020.
Would CBS cut ties with Romo when he still has several years left on his deal? We're not so sure about that.
Make no mistake though, Romo is running out of time to win back the NFL world's trust.
