The Chargers' offense was set to have a huge year with the emergence of Allen, who had 67 catches for 725 yards in his first eight games. However, the offense hasn't nearly been the same since Allen suffered a lacerated kidney in the first game of November.

Bell's season started on a suspension, and the Pro Bowl running back played only six games before tearing his knee ligaments. Fortunately, DeAngelo Williams has turned back the clock and played like his younger self while replacing Bell in the Pittsburgh backfield.

No one knew where Cam Newton would throw the ball after Benjamin tore his knee in the preseason. Benjamin crossed the 1,000-yard receiving plateau in his rookie season and left the Panthers scrambling with his injury. Somehow, they've managed to prosper without him, led by veteran Ted Ginn Jr. at wideout.

Dez Bryant, fractured foot

Bryant broke his foot in Week 1, and the Cowboys went 1-4 without him. His return to form was slow, especially with quarterback Tony Romo also ailing for most of the season.

Charles tore his ACL in only the fifth game of the season, and the Chiefs looked all but finished after starting the year 1-5. They've come back to Wild Card contention with the help of unknown backs Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware.

The Giants have struggled to find a receiving threat beyond Odell Beckham Jr. and would sure like Cruz back. He played only six games due to injury last season and won't take the field this season.

Andy Dalton was enjoying the best season of his career, passing for 25 touchdowns and 3,250 yards for a career-high 106.2 passer rating, leading the Bengals to a 10-2 start. That is until this past Sunday, when Dalton fractured his right thumb in a loss to the Steelers, leaving a team with Super Bowl visions without its starting quarterback for the rest of the season. We'll have to wait another year at least for Dalton's chance at playoff redemption.

The Pats haven't been the same without their go-to wideout, losing two games while he's been away. He had 61 catches through his first nine games and should be back in time for the team's playoff run.

Baltimore's nightmare season all but ended when Flacco tore his ACL and MCL in Week 11. The team was only 3-7 to that point. Baltimore hopes to have its signal caller back for the beginning of the 2016 season.

Arian Foster, torn Achilles

The Texans were without Foster to open the year due to a groin injury, and he tore his Achilles in only his fourth game back. The Texans have struggled to run the ball this season, which has caused them to make adjustments after being the most run-heavy team in football last season.

Graham hadn't made the contribution that Seahawks fans hoped early this season, but he was making progress before tearing his knee in Week 12. His status for the beginning of 2016 is questionable.

Carlos Hyde, fractured foot

Most 49ers fans figured 2015 would be a lost season for the team after an odd offseason of retirements and bad luck, and that's certainly been the case. One of their few bright spots, Hyde, played only seven games at running back before his season ended with a stress fracture in his foot.

Chris Johnson, fractured leg

A former 2,000-yard rusher, Johnson showed flashes of his old self after the Cardinals signed him in the preseason. Well on his way to 1,000-plus yards rushing for the seventh time, Johnson's season ended prematurely with a fractured leg. He's eligible to return for the Super Bowl if Arizona makes it that far.

The Patriots let running backs Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen walk in the offseason, replacing them with Lewis' contribution. The versatile back added a new dimension to the team's offense, but his season ended after only seven games with a torn ACL.

It's been a rough year for Luck and the Colts, but they've been lucky to have backup Matt Hasselbeck's adequate play at quarterback. Luck has missed significant time this season but could be back for the final stretch as the Colts hope to win another AFC South title.

Lynch never looked quite right this season and saw his yards per carry average fall below 4.0 along with struggles from the Seattle offensive line. He's missed significant time to injuries, most notable a sports hernia. Backup undrafted rookie Thomas Rawls has done a great job in his stead.

Thomas Rawls, fractured ankle

Filling in for an injured Marshawn Lynch, Thomas Rawls helped the Seattle rushing attack not miss a beat. Averaging 5.6 yards per carry, Rawls topped 100 yards four times this season, including a career-high 209 yards vs. the 49ers. However, Rawls broke his ankle Sunday in a victory over the Ravens, and now the two-time defending NFC champs are even more thin in the backfield.

In what was supposed to be his final season, Smith tore his Achilles in the seventh game of the year for the Ravens. He was off to a great start with nearly 100 yards per game, and the team is hopeful he will decide to return in 2016.

Baltimore's pass defense has been among the league's worst, and it's no coincidence after losing its star pass rusher in Week 1. The good news is that Suggs has plenty of time to return healthy for 2016.

Cameron Wake, torn Achilles

Wake was having another great season with seven sacks in seven games before tearing his Achilles. The defense has struggled to get to the quarterback without him.

Buffalo's defensive line has been a major disappointment this season, and it's no coincidence that Williams has missed much of the year. The star defensive tackle had at least five sacks in each of the last three seasons.
