Myles Garrett lamenting Browns 'wasting' players' primes?

Cleveland Browns All-Pro pass-rusher Myles Garrett isn't hiding he's displeased this fall.

"We have to make sure that we don’t waste the talent that we have in its prime right now," Garrett said while speaking with reporters coming off Sunday's 31-23 loss to the Buffalo Bills, per Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram and The Medina Gazette. "We have to do our best with it.

"There are seven more games that we can use the talent that we have all over the field and make the most out of it. We still have a lot of opportunities left to keep on fighting and put ourselves in position to go to the playoffs. It is not as much in our hands as we want it to be, but it is definitely not out of the conversation yet."

Garrett made his latest comments after the Browns fell to 3-7 on what's become a forgettable season and after he previously suggested that Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel knew what the Cleveland defense would run during the Week 10 39-17 blowout defeat.

As Petrak noted, a visibly frustrated Garrett spent time sitting by himself on the sideline following Sunday's result that seemingly cemented Cleveland's postseason fate.

"We are too good of a team to have this record that we have right now. We just have to be better," Garrett added. "It is frustrating. There is a lot of emotion going through your head when you let another slip away when it is 13-10 going into the locker room, catch the momentum, doing well on defense and then we just don’t finish."

The Browns traded with the Houston Texans for star quarterback Deshaun Watson in March knowing at the time Watson wouldn't be available for a large chunk of this season due to a suspension related to allegations of sexual misconduct during massage sessions. Watson ultimately received an 11-game ban, and journeyman backup Jacoby Brissett has been atop the team's depth chart since before Week 1.

According to ESPN stats, Brissett began Monday tied for 16th among qualified quarterbacks with a 90.7 passer rating, sixth with a 62.4 total QBR, and 13th with 2,398 passing yards on the campaign. Across 10 games, he's tallied 11 touchdown passes and five interceptions.

Meanwhile, Cleveland's defense surrendered 195 rushing yards against Miami and allowed Buffalo to rush for 171 yards.

The Browns host the 5-5 Tampa Bay Buccaneers this coming Sunday before Watson can be made eligible to make his Cleveland regular-season debut at the Texans on Dec. 4.
